Best art book ever

I've been waiting for this for so long and it's finally here! This book has 327 pages worth of colorful art work! The amount of content that was put into the book is huge. If you are an avid splatoon fan, I definitely recommend this book! It is worth every penny! Heck I would still buy even if I had to pay full price ($40) for it!

Must have book for Splatoon fans

First off this is a really big book. Its bigger than I thought and heavy as well. All the images are crisp and the printing is beautiful in full color. There are images from the game, concept art, and tons of information about development and the game itself. There is even a section talking about all of the splatfests. This is a great collectors peice if you loved splatoon. The game has a great bit of charm that not every game these days has. This book just adds to that. I can't wait for a splatoon 2 edition!!

Should you buy it? Ngyes!

This book is fantastic for any Splatoon fan. It explores the surprisingly vast world of Inkopolis, from the Inklings' design to the signage and graffiti. You get to see concepts and prototypes of the major characters— the Squid Sisters, Cap'n Cuttlefish, DJ Octavio— as well as models and other design sketches, all annotated with notes here and there. It also contains concept sketches and some comic strips— there's a plethora of artwork, as you'd expect from a 330-page book. Nevertheless, I do have two complaints. I wish the book showed some of the development from before we had squids (i.e. the rabbits that predated them— yes, the characters were almost rabbits!), and the weapon specs contained in this book are outdated. (This is pointed out in the book preview, and these are the specs that appeared in the Japanese version. However, the game stopped receiving balance updates well before this localization was announced, and I do feel that this could have been updated to reflect the latest specs.)

Nintendo's Family-Friendly Shooter

Artwork of Nintendo's wacky squid-kid game, Splatoon, for the Wii U. If you have the second game and never owned the first one, this artbook is perfect to catch up on the first game's lore, tidbits, and features that helped make the second game successful and fun. I own Splatoon and Splatoon 2, but I have to say that I still like the first one better overall. This artbook goes over ideas for designing and movement of models. This was the original artwork that began the whole squid world. Unrelated to this product, but along with the stages and soundtrack, I still like the first one better (Salmon Run was my favorite addition to Splatoon 2). For a lower price than what it intially came out for, if you are a big fan of Splatoon or Splatoon 2 and are interested with its development, this should not be missed. The quality of these pages is great, and the artwork alone is enough to get this artbook.

Everything you need to know about Game Design done right

First of all, this is a book with Splattitude! If you like Splatoon, you should get it. Second, if you're interested in game design, you need this as an example of how it's done. Are you drawing some weapons? Here you have them in different PoV, how many ink do they use, how do they look in the planning stages and in the final game and even how big they're supposed to be. Third, Quality. Nintendo has been releasing some amazing art books in the past year that anyone that looks at them even if they don't know the game would be surprised at how good every drawing and page look. Dark Horse too has been consistent with the quality of the translations. Fourth, if you really REALLY like Splatoon and have been playing it from the first game in the Wii U, then you'll totally fall in love with the high res images of the Splatfests illustrations.

Splatoons book

This is an extensive book of 300+ pages of artwork, storyboards, and comics. Must have for any Splatoons fan.

If you love Splatoon you totally need this

If you love Splatoon you totally need this! It's also bigger than japan's version and hardcover unlike japans. The artist notes are in a font that's similar to the scribbles and it's very authentic. Somethings were changed here n there but it's not too significant or completely noteworthy.

Amazing book for my WOOMY brethren!

I LOVE Splatoon! Such an amazing game! This book is packed full of gorgeous artwork. I'm an artist, and seeing the development of the game is just absolutely fascinating to me, and helps me gain inspiration artistically. I love peeking into behind the scenes of my favorite games and shows, and if you do too, I highly recommend this book! The book came in fantastic condition; no scratches, scuffs, dents, or any damages. It came in a cellophane plastic cover to protect it. The weight of the book is heavy and thick, and it's a hard cover, and it's definitely a quality book!

I love that Nintendo is finally doing art books besides Zelda ...

MASSIVE book full of everything you can imagine from the world of Splatoon. I love that Nintendo is finally doing art books besides Zelda hope we get some Metroid history and Mario at some point this is highly recommended.
